About Me

Hi! I am Bobbie, artist & illustrator with a passion for hand drawing. 

Ever since I was a small child, I always had pen in my hand, doodling and scribbling onto any paper I could find. When I didn't have one, I painted in the air with my finger, much to the amusement of my family. For most of my life I was self-taught, taking my lessons from nature and the people who surrounded me. I was fascinated by what a person's face could reveal about their life and personality, so for years I focused on portraiture.

Before embarking on a university course in architectural design, I took lessons in architectural sketching and added a rigour and technique to my self-taught skills.

I spent many years within the architecture industry, but as I graduated from studying into practice, hand drawing was progressively less valued and used. Something was missing in my life and I felt I was losing the connection with my creative side.

Eventually I discovered a way to work both as a landscape designer and freelance illustrator. 

I love that my career now gives me the flexibility to do the many things I love and connects people, art and nature. Although a winding path, I acquired skills through my journey here which helped me grow as an artist, imbuing my drawing style with an understanding for architectural and landscape illustration.

Ren Atelier gives space to a big part of my personality and the one thing I always knew I would need to be doing - drawing. It really got going early in 2019 with my first etsy shop for wedding stationery, growing swiftly since into a focus on combining unique designs with artwork commissions.

My bespoke illustrations and watercolours really are a labour of love, 

I enjoy every second of the process and making people happy with my work is really the greatest gift! When it comes down to it that's the most important thing to me.
